Course Description
This video will teach you the necessary steps that Under-Resourced Inventors need to take in order to protect their product ideas. Additionally, you'll learn how the Patent Hub facilitates the placement of these inventors with FREE (pro bono) legal assistance of a licensed patent attorney within the State of Illinois.

Richard Stockton is considered one of the top patent attorneys in the city of Chicago. He has obtained more than 1,000 U.S. design patents, trademark registrations, copyright registrations, and utility patents for his clients. Additionally, Stockton manages a portfolio of more than 2,000 intellectual properties in more than 70 foreign jurisdictions. Banner & Witcoff is dedicated to excellence in the specialized practice of intellectual property law, including patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret, computer, franchise and unfair competition law, firm actively engages in the procurement enforcement and litigation of intellectual property rights throughout the world, including all federal and state agencies, and the distribution of such rights through licensing & franchising. The firm has more than 100 attorneys and agents in its Chicago, Washington, Boston and portland offices. Mary Anne Smith is the former General Counsel of the Illinois Institute of Technology. She is a graduate of IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law and also holds an M.S. degree in mathematics from IIT. She also serves as vice president and general counsel of IITRI. For the past several years, she has chaired the IIT Quality of Work Life Committee and the Diversity Committee. The Chicago-Kent Patent Hub was created as part of a United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) pro bono initiative to provide assistance with the patent application and prosecution process for inventors in all 50 states.
